THAILAND TO STEP UP MARKETING EFFORTS FOR ASEAN VISITORS ASEAN arrivals to Thailand comprise the biggest market share of all visitors. Although there was a decline in the first half of 2009 due to the financial crisis and the impact of the H1N1 flu, the number of visitors rebounded in the third and fourth quarter of 2009.
REGIONAL CARRIERS HELP REVIVE INTRA-ASEAN TRAVEL The aviation sector is regaining strength with low-cost carriers (LCC) playing an especially significant role in boosting travel between ASEAN countries and Thailand, especially to destinations in southern Thailand.
TWO MORE BRIDGES TO LINK THAILAND AND LAO PDR ACROSS THE MEKONG Two more bridges linking Thailand and Lao PDR. over the Mekong River are in the pipeline. When completed, they will raise the total number of bridges between the two countries to four.

BANGKOK AIRPORT TO CITY RAIL LINK SET TO BE IN SERVICE SOON The 28-kilometre Airport Rail Link connecting Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport with the city centre will be fully operational in a few months, according to Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva as quoted by the Thai News Agency.
MADAME TUSSAUDS TO BE LAUNCHED SOON IN BANGKOK Madame Tussauds, the world-renowned display of waxworks images, is to open an attraction in Bangkok in the Siam Discovery complex in September 2010. The US$ 15 m visitor attraction will be the tenth Madame Tussauds worldwide, and the third to open in Asia, after Shanghai and Hong Kong.
BOOM IN THAI “CHIC” PRODUCTS, BOUTIQUE HOTELS This year’s ATF has special business opportunities for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Thailand to sell their products. Of the 28 new SMEs exhibiting their products, 22 are hotels, especially those categorized as boutique properties.
