THE BEST OF DOI SAKET FAIR

Shop for village products and folk crafts at “The Best of Doi Saket” fair being held at the Doi Saket District Office, February 12 – 14, 2010.

A great variety of products from each of the sub-districts (tambon) of Doi Saket packaged under the OTOP – One Tambon One Product label will be on offer. These include textiles, ceramics, wood-carvings, nickel-wood crafts, colourful Chiang Mai-style parasols, home accessories, decorative items, and delicious local fare. Admission is free.

Doi Saket district is blessed with natural beauty and cultural splendour. “The Best of Doi Saket” fair presents an opportunity for visitors to learn more about Lanna charm up close and personal.

Various aspects of the magnificent Lanna (Northern Thai) artistic and cultural heritage, will be showcased. In addition to presentations featuring Tai Lue and other tribal cultures, there will also be musical performances, stage drama, and a beauty contest.

Venturing further beyond, the district’s breathtaking natural landscape provides the perfect backdrop for a range of ecotourism, agrotourism and eco-adventure activities. For example, for agrotourism, Doi Saket offers tours of its Arabica coffee plantations or visit the Huai Hong Krai Royal Development Study Centre and learn about conservation practices and sustainable environmentally-friendly farming practices based on the “Sufficiency Economy” philosophy advocated by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand.

For thrill-seekers, sign up for an exhilarating Jungle Flight treetop jungle adventure and swing through the lush forest canopy on cables. Then, explore the hot springs.

  IMPORTANT
Event dates and programme details may be subject to change.
Many of the festivals and events listed on Thailand's official calendar of annual events are traditional Buddhist or folk festivals, the date of which is either determined by the Buddhist lunar calendar and waxing and waning moon. These are not staged events. The festivals reflect the rhythm of life in rural Thai villages and local traditions as observed in times past.
