KATA & KARON BEACH BACK TO NORMAL

    Please click to expand

Dear Sir/Madame,

I'd like to send you the updated situation in Phuket. Please find the enclosed pictures of Kata and Karon Beach on 29/01/05.

The local governer, hoteliers and the local people have cleaned up roads and beaches yesterday. Everything is fully under control. Some hotel lobbies and the ground floor were flooded but no major damage. For example, Kata Thani, Kata Beach which situated right on the beach has changed the water in the swimming pool and cleaned up all floors. They operate the hotel as normal.

80% of the hotels which are not situated on the beach are doing fine. No damage at all. Beaches look very nice like 30 years ago, no chairs, umbrella and sea is very clear and beautiful.

Please forward this message to tour operators and TAT overseas to update the situation in Phuket. I'm sorry that some hotels in Patong Beach and Khao Lak will take a couple months to get back to normal. But we have to find the strength as we've a lot of employees and colleague to look after.

Regards,
Ms. Angkana Tanetvisetkul
