At the Kids Club of JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa, the Foundation has opened its “Turtle Corner” which will be used as an educational corner covering the Turtle Discovery programme which highlights the following topics:
A turtle's life cycle
Food that turtles eat
Dangers that turtles face
How we can help the turtles.

The aim of each 30 minute activities-based lesson is to give children a better idea of the lives of turtles and the role we play to help them not to become extinct.

The Turtle Discovery programme will officially commence on the 5th February 2009.

In 2009, the Foundation launches its latest project entitled “Saving Our Seas and Marine Life”. This project comprises several eco-educational and fund raising events to assist marine life.

The proposed projects for 2009 are:
February Grant support to PMBC for their Marine Animal Stranding Rescue Project
April 13 Songkran Turtle Release on Mai Khao Beach
May 24 Turtle Fun Run & Educational Day
July/August Saving Our Seas and Marine Life Workshop for Adults
October/November Beach and reef clean up
November Annual Gala Dinner

In 2008, the Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation conducted 8 events in its Environmental Awareness & Solutions Project 2008. Events included 3 environmental education workshops with primary school children, tree planting, turtle release/rescue, beach and reef cleanup, Turtle Fun Run and the energy saving Earth Hour Picnic.
