Bangkok, 2 July, 2015 – MANATHAI Hotels and Resorts is poised to provide guests with deeper connections into Thailand’s natural and artistic heritage with the opening of the latest in its unique collection of boutique properties, MANATHAI Koh Samui, on 1 July, 2015.
Located opposite a fishing village on Lamai Beach, the 148-room colonial-period styled beachfront resort sets itself apart by the lengths to which it has gone to remain authentic to the cultural nuances of the destination utilising indigenous materials and methods as foundations to shape the guest experience.
Examples can be found throughout the resort, from the ancient Dok Phi Khun floral patterns exhibited in the coloured glass panels in rooms and restaurant areas to the use of Bai Jak, the leaf from the native Nypa Palm, which the resort uses to provide complimentary hand fans to guests.
In the rooms, Thai ceramic traditions are showcased in the bathroom basins by local firm, Sense, while silk cushions are provided by Jim Thompson, the manufacturer behind the world famous brand which continues to utilise traditional silk weaving techniques in all its products.
MANATHAI Hotels & Resorts Chief Operations Officer, Christoph Berger, said he was delighted to be opening the resort and was looking forward to welcoming guests to an elegant, boutique experience.
“Koh Samui is a special destination. It offers a uniquely relaxed atmosphere and we have worked hard to harness this with our reverence for the arts and traditions of Thai culture.
