Bangkok, 27 October, 2015 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has confirmed its continuous support to Visa for the three existing collaborative campaigns and another new initiative that are set to take place from November 2015, through to 2016, with the objective of boosting tourists spending while travelling in Thailand.
Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, Governor of TAT said, “TAT and Visa have cooperated in joint marketing campaigns that can respond to the varied needs of travellers and stimulate their spending while they can enjoy their time in Thailand. I am also very pleased to share the insights from Visa that the tourists’ travelling expenses in Thailand has the highest record when compared to other Southeast Asian countries.”
TAT and Visa have been strategic partners since 1998, starting with the Amazing Thailand Grand Sale campaign. Their strategic partnership later expanded to two more campaigns – the Thailand Spectacular Year End and the Thailand Splash & Spice.
The long-standing partnership between TAT and Visa is set to continue with the three existing campaigns scheduled to take place over the next 12 months. The Thailand Spectacular Year End will take place from 15 November, 2015, to 15 January, 2016; the Thailand Splash & Spice from 15 March to 15 May, 2016, and the Amazing Thailand Grand Sale from 15 June to 16 August, 2016.
TAT and Visa have also announced a new campaign called “Thailand Cross Border Privileges” which will grant discount and privileges for Visa cardholders from overseas when they purchase travel products and services in Thailand’s leading destinations including Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin, Chiang Mai, and Phuket.
The new campaign offers a discount of 10 per cent when make bookings for partnered hotels though www.booking.com. In Bangkok, there are 50-partnered hotels in the initial stage, and this is expected to increase to 100 hotels in the five popular destinations.
Several luxury spas in Bangkok such as Oasis, Rarinjinda, Harnn, Thann are also partaking in the campaign, offering special packages and complimentary item for Visa cardholders.
For shopping lovers, Visa cardholders who buy souvenirs worth 3,000 Baht at Thai product shops, will get an extra complimentary gift from the shop.
In addition, participating restaurants at the Emporium and EmQuartier department stores will offer a 5 to 10 per cent discount and free shopping vouchers worth 300 Baht for every dining of 3,000 Baht. Tourist attractions, such as Muay Thai Live the Legend Lives, Siam Niramitr, also offer a discount of 10 per cent or one free entry ticket for the purchase of three tickets at a time.
The Thailand Cross Border Privileges campaign is set to complement the Thailand Spectacular Year End project, which will encourage tourists to spend more during the shopping season.
