Bangkok, 27 February, 2017 – More than 100 wedding planners and travel agents selling honeymoon holidays from 25 countries are in Thailand during 24 – 27 February, 2017, for the Amazing Thailand Romance Trade Meet event, organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to tap this highly specialised niche market.
The “Amazing Thailand Romance Trade Meet” event comprises an event in Bangkok on 24 February at the Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok and another event on Ko Samui on 27 February at the Anantara Bophut Koh Samui Resort. The invited buyers have the chance to meet and discuss prospect businesses with 140 Thai wedding and honeymoon planners.
The invited buyers are from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Hong Kong, Hungary, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Norway, Russia, Slovakia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, the UK and the US.
Mr. Tanes Petsuwan, TAT Deputy Governor for International Marketing – Europe, Africa, Middle East and the Americas said, “Carefully selected by our TAT offices abroad, the list of buyers includes those who are from emerging markets; such as, Argentina, Brazil, Russia, and Slovakia.”
He added, “Promoting weddings and honeymoons is one of our core strategies this year as part of the effort to attract more long-staying, high-spending visitors.”
Although Thailand’s prowess for handling weddings and honeymoons is well-known amongst major source markets like India and the Middle East, TAT is keen to source new markets in Europe, America and Latin America.
Another major event focusing on the weddings and honeymoons market segment will be held in Phuket from 2-4 May when Thailand hosts the 4th Annual Destination Wedding Planners Congress 2017. TAT expects to attract about 450 wedding planners from across Asia, Africa, the Americas, Australasia and Europe to attend this influential event.
The DWP Congress 2016 named Thailand as the Number One wedding destination in Asia, third place in the Australian and New Zealand markets, and sixth spot in the European listings. As an emerging destination, Thailand comes third and first for the Middle East and Africa, respectively.
In 2015, Thailand was named Asia’s Sexiest Romance/Honeymoon Destination by the US-based Recommend Magazine’s readers, and one of the world’s Best Honeymoon Destinations for 2015 by Fordors.com. In addition, the paradise island of Samui was listed by Veryfirstto.com as one of the top ten romantic destinations in the world.
