The Tourism Authority of Thailand would like to provide an update regarding the current flooding in Thailand that key tourist destinations across the country remain unaffected by the heavy rains in the early hours of Saturday, 14 October, 2017.
While the downpours caused several streets of Bangkok to flood, city authorities immediately used heavy duty pumps to drain most of the water off the roads and worked to prepare further flood prevention measures. Thanks to the swift action taken by the local authorities, most of the waters in Bangkok’s central areas have now receded and life is returning to normal for residents and visitors.
Meanwhile, major tourist destinations across Thailand have not been affected by any floods. All tourist attractions and activities are open and operating as normal, including key attractions in Ayutthaya.
All airports throughout the country are open and operating as usual. Transportation to and from both Bangkok’s international airports (Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang) into central Bangkok as well as to tourist destinations southeast and southwest of Bangkok, such as, Pattaya, Hua Hin, Ko Samet and Ko Chang are operating as normal.
Train and inter-provincial bus services are operating as usual. Travellers are advised to check in advance train and bus schedules with the State Railway of Thailand for train services via its Call Centre 1690 and with the Transport Co., Ltd., for inter-provincial bus service via its Call Centre 1490.
