Bangkok, 24 January 2019 – The Thailand Tourism Festival 2019 opened to great fanfare yesterday and will run until Sunday, 27 January.
The event is annually organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) with an aim to inspire Thais, expatriates and visiting tourists alike to travel around Thailand.
H.E. Weerasak Kowsurat, Minister of Tourism and Sports (in photo, centre), presided over the opening ceremony. Also attending the ceremony were (in photo, from left) Mr. Noppadon Pakprot, TAT Deputy Governor for Domestic Marketing; Lieutenant-commander Worawit Techasupakura, Secretary to the Minister of Tourism and Sports; Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT Governor; Ms. Kanokrat Pannara, Deputy director of Culture, Sports and Tourism Department of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration; and Mr. Tanes Petsuwan, TAT Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications.
The event takes place in Bangkok’s Lumphini Park with five ‘tourism villages’ representing the regions of Thailand plus two additional zones.
Opening time is from 12.00-21.00 Hrs. for Wednesday to Friday, and from 11.00-21.00 for Saturday and Sunday. Entrance is free.
Visitors are encouraged to arrive via BTS Sala Daeng Station or the MRT underground Silom Station.
