Bangkok, 25 October, 2019 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, is pleased to announce that the Princess’s Cup Thailand 2019 will take place at the Royal Stable Unit and the Royal Horse Guard in Bangkok, from 18-24 November, 2019.
Tourism and Sports Minister, H.E. Mr. Pipat Ratchakitprakan, said, “HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya will graciously perform her horseback riding skills during this year’s opening ceremony. HRH Princess will also initiate a light-and-sound multimedia presentation to make this year’s event more impressive and grander than ever.”
Established in 2013 by HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya who chairs the Policy Committee as well as this year’s Organising Committee, the event aims to strengthen relations between equestrian clubs worldwide. For Thai equestrians, it is also a platform to practice their skills for global competitions, while promoting the sport locally.
The one-week Princess’s Cup Thailand 2019 has been elevated to an international competition because there will be more international equestrians competing in the five different categories – dressage, jumping, eventing, best farrier and best groom.
The dressage, jumping and eventing categories will be competed under the rules and regulations of both the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI) and the Thailand Equestrian Federation (TEF). Rules and regulations for the best farrier and best groom categories are set by the event’s organising committee.
Winning individuals and teams will receive a trophy prize while those placed 1-3 will also receive a badge. Prize bows will be given to the winning individual, and teams placed 1-3.
The Princess’s Cup Thailand 2019 is also a warm-up match ahead of the first edition of the Asian Equestrian Championships to be held at the Thai Polo and Equestrian Club in Pattaya, Chon Buri province from 1-8 December, 2019.
