Bangkok, 20 November, 2019 – The highest-performing travel agency members of Virtuoso, the U.S.-based global network of specialists in luxury and experiential travel, held their annual Chairman’s Event in the Thai capital between Nov 12-17, hosted by the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
Virtuoso’s more than 20,000 advisors are responsible for selling 1,800 of the world’s best companies such as hotels, cruise lines, tour operators, and more. Their personal connections and firsthand expertise help their clients design unique experiences, special values, complimentary perks, VIP treatment and rare access.
The invitation-only Chairman’s Event rewards Virtuoso’s most dedicated members. The Bangkok event was attended by more than 250 Chairpersons and CEOs from the U.S., Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Dominican Republic, Germany, Hong Kong, Mexico, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
The meetings, receptions and meals were held at The Peninsula Bangkok and Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, both on the picturesque banks of the iconic Chao Phraya River. TAT hosted the closing reception and dinner at the Thai National Museum.
A highlight of the Chairman’s Event is the Design Your Day activities, which allow attendees to choose from a variety of experiences. Agency owners spent two days exploring Bangkok with a focus on exclusive, authentic experiences, such as Bangkok street art in an emerging neighborhood, learning Muay Thai boxing techniques and discovering the characters and dance of traditional puppet theater.
TAT also organized exclusive trips to tourist attractions and facilities in Bangkok and nearby areas which the Virtuoso partners could include in their tour packages. Over 85% of all participants bought regional pre and post tours in Thailand.
Mrs. Srisuda Wanapinyosak, TAT Deputy Governor for Europe, Africa, and the Middle East said, “TAT is very pleased to have hosted the 2019 Virtuoso’s Chairman Event in Bangkok. Thailand is featured prominently on the Virtuoso website. We were glad to hear the half the Chairpersons & CEOs who participated in the event were coming to Thailand for the first time. That made it a wonderful opportunity for them to get to know Thailand better and attract new first-time visitors.”
Virtuoso’s high-income customers have an average household income of between 175,000-200,000 dollars a year. Sales and tourism services sold in Thailand are valued at about 75 million dollars (approximately 2,400 million baht).
TAT has long been promoting luxury packages with Virtuoso, focusing on Wedding & Honeymoon, Wellness as well as Food-lovers.
In addition to the two riverside hotels, TAT’s partners in hosting the event were Exo Travel Thailand, Abercombie and Kent (Thailand), Fine Arts Department, Thailand Privilege Card, Airports of Thailand and Immigration Department.
