Bangkok, 30 January, 2020 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) continued to leverage its music marketing strategy with a series of surprise free concerts in Bangkok this month by British sensation Oh Wonder.
Universal Music Thailand organised Oh Wonder’s pop up concerts supported by TAT at three chic Bangkok bars, Baan Rim Naam and FooJohn Building in Talat Noi and Bā Hào in Chinatown’s Soi Nana, on 19 January.
Oh Wonder is a London-based alt-pop duo consisting of Anthony West and Josephine Vander Gucht. Since releasing their debut album in 2014, the duo has enjoyed international success with their alt-pop singles playing 318 headline shows and festivals in 45 countries.
The feedback on Oh Wonder’s pop up concerts in Bangkok was phenomenal. Over 6,000 people tried to register for participating in the concerts, which only had less than 300 seats available. All seats were fully registered within two minutes and the hashtag #OHWONDERBKK2020 ranked No. 4 on Twitter.
TAT Governor Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn said, “This is part of the TAT’s music marketing strategy and Universal Music Thailand’s plan to promote Oh Wonder’s new singles to be launched later this year, and to make Thailand a regional hub for music festivals and concert performances. We are delighted both by the attendance at the three venues and the many positive reviews online.”
In addition to the free concerts, Oh Wonder’s time in Bangkok was also captured in a minute and a half video that featured their experience visiting Bangkok’s landmarks in addition to their amazing performances at the three bars.
