Bangkok, 09 April, 2020, at 19.00 Hrs. – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) would like to provide the latest update that Phuket has imposed a lockdown for all 17 sub-districts for 14 days, from 00.01 Hrs. of 13 April, 2020, to 23.59 Hrs. of 26 April, 2020, or until the situation improves.
The move makes Phuket the first province in Thailand to impose a total lockdown of all areas, in its sustained effort to stop the spread of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
With the exceptions of medical and emergency personnel and logistics workers, all 17 sub-districts are sealed off to ensure minimum mobilisation of people and vehicles.
Phuket is also the first province in Thailand to conduct active case finding to screen for new cases and contain the spread of the virus.
