Bangkok, 14 January, 2021 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in cooperation with the Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health, and members of the Amazing Thailand Safety and Health Administration (SHA) Safety Standards Audit Committee today conducted a post-audit of Don Mueang International Airport.
Led by Mr. Tanes Petsuwan, TAT Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications, and Dr. Suwannachai Wattanayingcharoenchai, Director-General of the Department of Health, the inspection was to ensure that both Thai and foreign passengers have a positive experience, and are confident in the sanitation and safety standards of Thailand’s aviation sector.
The Committee inspected various areas within the passenger terminal of Don Mueang International Airport. Among the checklists included the requirements for all staff to wear personal protective equipment, including face masks and gloves, while working. Schedules and procedures for routine, effective airport cleaning, and disinfection measures in higher-risk areas were also inspected.
The management of Don Mueang International Airport was also instructed to ensure that all passengers follow the standard infection prevention practices, DMHTT: D – Distancing, M – Mask wearing, H – Handwashing, T – Temperature check, and T – Thai Chana contact tracing application.
The Committee also evaluated the health and safety standard of Thai AirAsia, and awarded the airline with the SHA certification number D0462 under the transportation sector.
The Amazing Thailand SHA is a unique certification scheme aimed to prepare the Thai tourism industry for the recovery period post-COVID-19 pandemic and enhance confidence amongst international and domestic tourists.
The project is a result of cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, TAT, Ministry of Public Health (Department of Disease Control, Department of Health and Department of Health Service Support), as well as tourism-related government and private sector organisations.
From May 2020, until the present, more than 8,000 businesses and entrepreneurs in 10 key sectors across the country have been awarded the Amazing Thailand SHA certificate. The number is continuing to rise on a monthly basis.
The SHA certification is valid for two years, and all certified establishments and entrepreneurs are subject to a two-part audit programme to ensure continued compliance: a random inspection by the Committee and a Voice of Customer (VOC) user satisfaction survey.
