Taipei, 13 August 2024 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) presented a multitude of Thailand’s travel experiences and exclusive privileges for Taiwanese tourists at the “Amazing Thailand Travel Fair 2024” from 10-11 August in Taipei, Taiwan.
Mr. Nithee Seeprae, TAT Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications, said “The Amazing Thailand Travel Fair celebrates the newly implemented visa exemption for Taiwanese tourists, while strengthening the friendship between Thailand and Taiwan. We hope the event will inspire Taiwanese travellers to visit Thailand for our beautiful attractions, diverse cuisines, vibrant festivals, and warm hospitality.”
TAT organised the event in collaboration with Thailand Trade and Economic Office – Taipei; the Department of Information and Tourism, Taipei City Government; National Chengchi University; and Thai Trade Office – Taipei, as well as Taiwanese tour operators and airlines.
Conceptualised to present a fun and enchanting ambiance of the Loi Krathong Festival, the event aimed to inspire Taiwanese travellers to travel to Thailand and witness the magic firsthand this November.
Additionally, the “Amazing Thailand: Your Stories Never End” campaign was prominently featured to offer a glimpse into Thailand’s soft power through five must-do activities.
These included traditional dances; Muay Thai performances; Thai Xylophone Solo by YouTuber ‘Fino the Ranad’; drag shows by Natalia Pliacam, the winner of Drag Race Thailand Season I; and demonstrations on making Southern Thai milk tea (Cha Chuck) and Northeastern Thai (Isan) dishes.
Added to the fun atmosphere were special appearances by Thai BoyLove/GirlLove artists, a workshop on biodegradable krathong making and the chance for visitors to dress up in traditional Thai attire for photo opportunities and lucky draw.
Present at the event were display booths of 30 tourism businesses, including Thai restaurants, travel agencies and airlines offering exclusive travel packages, deals and special air fares.
The event was organised with emphasis on the use of biodegradable food and drink containers and proper waste management in line with the TAT’s high-value and sustainable tourism direction.
TAT has set the target to attract 768,000 Taiwanese travellers to Thailand this year. In the first seven months, Thailand recorded 630,332 visitors from Taiwan, up 64% over the same period in 2023.
