TAT strengthens Thailand’s presence at PATA Travel Mart 2024

As well as hosting a welcome reception, TAT led a strong delegation to promote its sustainable tourism direction, while celebrating five PATA Gold Awards 2024 for Thailand.

Bangkok, 3 September 2024 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has reiterated its unwavering support for the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) in celebrating the 25th anniversary of PATA Headquarters’ establishment in Bangkok with the hosting of the PATA Travel Mart (PTM) 2024.

PATA hosted the 47th edition of PTM from 27-29 August, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) in Bangkok. The annual event is regarded as one of Asia Pacific’s most prominent and longest standing international travel trade exhibitions.

Marking this special occasion, TAT arranged a welcome reception on 27 August, allowing PTM delegates to experience the fun and colourful atmosphere of a Thai temple fair within the QSNCC. The cocktail dinner was filled with fun activities and Thai tradition game kiosks, as well as art and cultural shows, including a traditional puppet show, a contemporary Thai music performance, and a Phi Ta Khon happy ghost dance.

At the PTM 2024, TAT led a delegation of 16 exhibitors including hotels, tour operators, and related businesses. The Thailand Stand promoted sustainable tourism initiatives, including Thailand Tourism Awards winners, STAR-certified tourism products, 20 recommended low-carbon tourism routes, and a workshop on recycled plastic.

This year marked another milestone for Thailand, having won four PATA Gold Awards.

TAT’s “Monk on the Raft” photograph has won a Gold Award in the Marketing – Travel Photography category.

Meanwhile, TAT’s “The Diversity of Southern Border” video documentary was named a joint Gold Award winner in the Sustainability and Social Responsibility – Cultural category with the “Revitalizing the Unique Performing Arts and Traditional Local Wisdom of the Trai Trung Community through the Establishment of Cultural Community Tourism” project by the Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (DASTA).

DASTA has also won a Gold Award in the Sustainability and Social Responsibility – Heritage category for its “Building on Ancient Inspiration for Inter-generational Heritage of Sangkhalok Wares” project.

Another PATA Gold Awards 2024 for Thailand went to Sivatel Bangkok Hotel for its “From Kitchen to Chicken and Beyond” initiative in the Sustainability and Social Responsibility – Corporate and Social Responsibility category.
