Monopoly: Bangkok Edition set to roll the dice on 2 November at Central World

The third edition of Monopoly board game in the Thailand series will feature brand-new tokens inspired by Bangkok's vibrant culture and everyday life.

Bangkok, 15 October 2024 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is pleased to announce that the much anticipated ‘Monopoly: Bangkok Edition’ will officially pass “GO” on 2 November, with an exciting launch event at Central World, followed by an exclusive after-party at Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok.

Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, said “Monopoly: Bangkok Edition is an exciting collaboration with our stakeholders that showcases the unique charm of our vibrant capital city. This edition celebrates the essence of Bangkok, highlighting its cultural landmarks, bustling street markets and luxury hotels. I am so proud to see the city captured in this moment through one of the world’s most iconic games.”

Created by Winning Moves UK, under license from Hasbro and in partnership with TAT, Monopoly: Bangkok Edition will feature six brand-new, Bangkok-themed tokens:

Mango Sticky Rice: A nod to Thailand’s most beloved dessert, this token captures the sweet essence of Bangkok’s culinary scene.

Muay Thai Boxing Gloves: Representing Thailand’s national sport, this token celebrates the strength and agility of the country’s renowned martial arts.

A Suitcase: Perfect for the traveller at heart, this token symbolizes the adventure and discovery that awaits in every corner of Bangkok.

A Moped: A familiar sight on the bustling streets of Bangkok, this token pays tribute to the city’s fast-paced, dynamic nature.

A Backpack: Ideal for the backpacker exploring Bangkok’s hidden gems, this token highlights the city’s appeal to travellers seeking unique experiences.

Tuk-Tuk: Perhaps the most iconic symbol of Bangkok, this token honours the vibrant, colourful tuk-tuks that zip through the city, offering a ride like no other.

The launch event will take place at craftstudiO, 5th floor at Central World, where guests will be among the first to see the official unveiling of the game, explore and purchase the Monopoly: Bangkok Edition, and have a chance to win prizes. There will also be opportunities to meet and take photos with Mr. Monopoly himself!

The launch event will be followed by an exclusive after-party at the luxurious Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok.

Monopoly: Bangkok Edition (November 2024) is the third in the Thailand series, following the Chiang Mai edition (2023) and Phuket edition (2022). The game will be available at Asia Books locations and their retail partners.
