Madrid, 27 January 2025 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) earned international recognition by winning the Best Stand Award at FITUR 2025, one of the world’s premier tourism trade fairs, held in Madrid, Spain, from 22 to 26 January. Recognised as one of the top three stands out of 156 participating countries, TAT’s exceptional display captivated attendees with its unique celebration of Thai culture and commitment to sustainability.
Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, said: “This award reflects the ingenuity and passion of the TAT team, as well as our dedication to sustainability and innovation. As TAT marks 2025 as the Grand Tourism and Sports Year, this success reaffirms Thailand’s reputation as a leading destination for travellers seeking culture, eco-conscious experiences, and unforgettable memories.”
Spanning 148.5 square metres, the stand combined traditional Thai heritage with modern sustainability under the theme “Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025 & Sustainability.” Reused elements from past award-winning designs, including wooden lanterns, woven crafts, and the iconic pha khao ma fabric, showcased Thai craftsmanship while embracing eco-conscious principles.
A creative map of Thailand, crafted from locally sourced textiles such as tie-dye, indigo-dyed fabrics, and pha khao ma, served as the centrepiece. This installation, previously displayed at WTM 2024, highlighted key tourism destinations and drew widespread admiration.
Highlighting Thailand’s Soft Power, the stand featured “5 Must-Do Experiences,” including live demonstrations of Muay Thai, Bo Sang umbrella painting, the Phi Ta Khon festival, and Thai-inspired cocktails with flavours like tom yum goong and mango sticky rice.
FITUR 2025’s Best Stand Award in the Countries/Regions category celebrates exhibits that excel in design, brand storytelling, and sustainability. TAT’s achievement underscores its dedication to creativity, cultural heritage, and eco-friendly tourism on the global stage.
