TAT partly sponsors the creation of the dress as part of its strategy to promote Thailand’s tourism. The dress’ creator, Mr. Hirankrit Pattaraboriboonkul took the inspiration from one of the most iconic and playful symbols on the bustling Bangkok streets and incorporated it with engineering precision, 3D imaging technology, and high fashion couture craftsmanship to create the winning national costume.
Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, Governor of TAT said, “The award-winning Tuk-Tuk Thailand national costume is a great promotion of the country’s tourism through the beloved three-wheeled auto rickshaw that represents one of Thailand’s well-known uniqueness. It also boosts the kingdom’s image while underlining the charm of Thai hospitality and the tourism industry among millions of viewers of the world’s biggest beauty pageant. We are very proud that one of Thailand’s most iconic symbols has been recognised by the respected judges at the Miss Universe Pageant 2015.
