Bangkok, 09 August, 2017 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is highlighting special events as top holidays dedicated to Mum in honour of Thailand’s National Mother’s Day celebrations, under the theme “Family Fun: Travel Thailand with Mum This August.”
This year you can treat Mum to a historic steam train getaway, flower festival escape, or car caravan break, all just in time for Thai Mother’s Day (12 August).
Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), said that the current ‘green season’ tourism window was an ideal time to celebrate National Mother’s Day at one or several of the many events and festivals organised around the Kingdom in August.
“The best trips to take with your Mum are often the most surprising ones you might least expect. This year’s events reflect the changing cultural interests of both young and old travellers who are looking for unique experiences that bring family together.”
Take Mum to Prachuap Khiri Khan from Bangkok whilst riding together in a ‘Family Fun: Travel Thailand with Mum this August’ caravan rally that starts on 12 August with up to 300 cars, 10 buses and over 1,400 tourists joining in the fun. The TAT Central Regional Office is organising the event which also includes special merit-making activities at Wat Huai Mongkhon in Hua Hin.
Or ride along with Mum on a historic steam engine train journey from Bangkok to Nakhon Pathom (return) organised by the State Railway of Thailand and TAT. This one-day special programme on 12 August includes sightseeing to Nakhon Pathom’s Don Wai Floating Market, Wat Rai Khing Buddha statue and the Thai Human Imagery Wax Museum. If time , there is a last quick stop at Phra Pathom Chedi before the steam train ride returns to Bangkok.
And the Siam Tulip Festival for Mum 2017 is dedicated to Mother’s everywhere. Take her to Suphan Buri to admire ‘Siam Tulips’, locally known as ‘Dok Krachiao’, and take selfies in the flower fields with her kids. There will also be an agricultural exhibition and booths selling tulips and local products from U Thong all for sale at cheap prices.
Help Mum become an environmental activist with a cause at the ‘Rubber Boat Race for Conservation of the Phetchaburi River’. Winners’ medals go to the six-person crew (40 total entries) that collects the most trash over a 6.5-kilometre route, not who crosses the finish line first. The event also helps educate needy students in Tha Yang, Kaeng Krachan and Nong Ya Plong districts.
Last but not least, bring out your inner artist with Mum at a Ratchaburi Art Centric event on 12-13 August. The two-day event highlights the famous art and craft communities synonymous with Ratchaburi in four zones: ‘Art cetera’ interactive art exhibition; ‘Art..licious’ collection of the province’s delicious and unique traditional foods; ‘ A(rt) coustic’ therapeutic-style concert, and ‘Super Art Market’ for emerging designs by new designers.
