Bangkok, 27 September, 2018 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced winners of the ‘TAT Start-up Entrepreneurs of the New Age’ contest at an awards ceremony held on Monday, 24 September, alongside a special panel discussion on start-up tourism businesses.
Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT Governor, said: “The TAT Start-up Entrepreneurs of the New Age contest corresponds with the government’s Thailand 4.0 policy to transform the country’s economic structure into an economy driven by innovation or a value-based economy.”
The contest, opened from 25 June to 31 July, this year, encouraged new entrepreneurs to use innovation and technology in connection with strengthening tourism and industry.
The six ‘TAT Start-up Entrepreneurs of the New Age’ winners were chosen from 108 entries for two categories comprising 66 starts-up and 42 emerging businesses.
Starts-up: AIRPORTELs Luggage Delivery business model won the first prize, while Infinite FREAK’s Immersive Ayutthaya and UMT’s TukTuk Hop ideas were named the first and second runners-up, respectively.
Emerging businesses: Take Me Tour’s online platform to connect tourists to local products and services won the first prize. MuayThaiOK’s online booking website for Muay Thai classes was named the first runner-up while Golfdigg’s golf and leisure online platform was awarded the second runner-up.
Apart from a prize worth over 1.5 million Baht in total and an award plaque, all winning teams receive the right to join TAT to promote their award-winning businesses at the World Travel Market 2018, from 5-7 November, in London, UK.
