Bangkok, 01 July, 2021 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) would like to provide an update on the requirements needed for domestic travel to Ko Samui, Surat Thani for both Thais and foreigners.
In effect from 29 June, 2021, the measures apply for domestic travel to Ko Samui via all entry/exit points in mainland Surat Thani and on the island, including airports, boat piers, and by road.
Domestic travel to Ko Samui
For domestic travellers from Maximum and Strict Controlled Areas or ‘dark-red zone’ provinces, Maximum Controlled Areas or ‘red zone’ provinces, and Controlled Areas or ‘orange zone’ provinces, the following requirements apply:
- Must scan the QR code “SAVE SURAT” and complete all the information.
- Must scan the QR code for the Samui Health Pass at Don Sak Pier/Surat Thani Airport.
- Must report to village health volunteers or a COVID Manager within 24 hours of arrival.
- Most not visit communities, restaurants, convenience stores, department stores, or tourist attractions.
- Must abide by their hotel’s social distancing measures.
Travellers from these three zones are not required to undergo quarantine, if they have:
- Received a negative result by an RT-PCR test not more than 72 hours from the day the test was done.
Or
- Received a COVID-19 vaccination: two full doses of an approved vaccine at least 7 days or one dose of AstraZeneca at least 21 days before arrival, and have a valid Vaccine Certificate.
Or
- Have a certificate of having recovered from COVID-19 for at least 14 days, but not more than 90 days and have a valid Vaccine Certificate.
Domestic travel to Ko Samui for day-trip
For travellers to Ko Samui from ‘dark-red zone’ and ‘red zone’ provinces, the following requirements apply:
- Must scan the QR code for the Samui Health Pass at the pier/airport.
- Must undergo temperature screening.
- Must report their entry and exit to health workers at the pier/airport.
- Must leave Ko Samui within the same day of arrival.
While in Surat Thani, all visitors regardless of their length of stay must strictly follow the D-M-H-T-T-A precautions: D – Distancing, M – Mask wearing, H – Handwashing, T – Temperature check, T – Testing for COVID-19, and A – Alert application.
Masks must be worn at all times in public areas and in any vehicle with 2 or more people.
Visitors must also abide by the measures put in place by Surat Thani province.
Any persons who violate or fail to comply with this order shall be guilty of an offence under Section 52 of the Communicable Diseases Act B.E. 2558 (2015), which shall be liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one (1) year or to a fine not exceeding one hundred thousand (100,000) Baht, or both and shall be guilty of an offence under Section 18 of the Emergency Decree on Public Administration in Emergency Situation B.E. 2548 (2005), which shall be liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two (2) years or to a fine not exceeding forty thousand (40,000) Baht, or both.
Kindly note that the designation of provinces into different zones can be changed without prior notice, please check with the local authorities in your destination before planning any domestic trips.
