Bangkok, 18 December 2024 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) successfully hosted the 2024 Amazing Thailand Culture and Arts Festival on 17 December 2024 at the Aksra Theatre King Power, Bangkok. The event marked the upcoming 50th anniversary of China-Thailand diplomatic relations in 2025, uniting 300 active senior Chinese travellers in a joyous celebration of cultural exchange and tourism.
TAT executives and key partners attended the event, including Ms. Pattaraanong Na Chiangmai, Deputy Governor for International Marketing of Asia and South Pacific; Mr. Chuwit Sirivajjakul, Executive Director of the East Asia Region; Mrs. Ruedee Cheawsamoot, Director of TAT’s Kunming Office; and Ms. Tharinee Somboon, Deputy Executive Director of the East Asia Region. They were joined by Mrs. Zhao Xin and Ms. Tao Ying, representatives from the China Cultural Centre, as well as Ms. Navinda Pachimsawat, a representative from the Bangkok Dance Academy.
Ms. Pattaraanong stated “The 2024 Amazing Thailand Culture and Arts Festival was organised to commemorate the significant milestone of 50 years of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the People’s Republic of China. Today’s event signifies a pivotal step in strengthening cultural exchanges, fostering bilateral cooperation, and encouraging continuous tourism between the two nations.”
Guests enjoyed a lively atmosphere highlighted by cultural performances from the Bangkok Dance Academy’s “One Day in Bangkok” and an exclusive meet-and-greet with renowned Thai-Chinese singer and actor Bie Thassapak Hsu (widely known as Bie KPN).
The highlight of the event was a captivating dance and singing contest themed “50 Years of Thailand-China Diplomatic Relations.” Eleven teams, each comprising 20-30 participants from a total of 300, delivered engaging performances lasting five to ten minutes across various music genres.
The festival was organised by TAT’s Kunming Office in collaboration with Chinese tour operators. The participating active senior groups, originating from three key regions—Yunnan, Guangxi, and Guizhou—embarked on a six-day, five-night journey to Bangkok and Pattaya.
The initiative aimed to position Thailand as a top-of-mind destination for active senior travellers, a high-potential segment with significant purchasing power, a passion for travel during their leisure time, and the flexibility to travel year-round.
This demographic represents 35% of China’s population and is known for its substantial spending capacity. The 2024 Amazing Thailand Culture and Arts Festival is expected to contribute over 15 million Baht in revenue to Thailand’s tourism industry.
Thailand has long been a favourite destination for Chinese tourists. The festival’s success underscored Thailand’s commitment to strengthening cultural ties and welcoming visitors from across the globe, reinforcing its status as a world-class destination.
