Thailand celebrates 50 years of Thai-Chinese diplomatic relations with warm hospitality

Bangkok, 29 January 2025 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) organised a special ceremony at Suvarnabhumi Airport to welcome Chinese tourists arriving in celebration of Chinese New Year 2025. This event aimed to create a lasting impression, boost confidence in Thailand as a travel destination, and celebrate the 50th anniversary of Thai-Chinese diplomatic relations.

The ceremony was graced by Mr. Sorawong Thienthong, Minister of Tourism and Sports; Mrs. Chang Yumeng, Counsellor for Cultural Affairs from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to Thailand; Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor; Pol. Lt. Gen. Saksira Pheuak-um, Commissioner of the Tourist Police; and Mr. Kittipong Kittikachorn, General Manager of Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Thai Airways International’s Flight TG 663, arriving from Shanghai at 11:41 Hrs., was warmly received at Suvarnabhumi Airport with officials greeting tourists and presenting them with symbolic lucky gift bags. The event underscores Thailand’s commitment to enhancing its global tourism appeal and fostering strong bilateral relations with China as the world celebrates the Year of the Dragon.
