Usually when it comes to visiting ‘The Land of Smiles
’, most people go to Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi and Pattaya. But there is more to the Thailand than just these famous tourist destinations. So we were very lucky to have the chance to visit Buri Ram where we saw the unique heritage, culture and food as well as the sports tourism side of the Thailand.
Let me share with you some of the memorable moments in video:
We visited the Hindu temples and sites in Buri Ram, which includes Prasat Hin Phanom Rung and Prasat Hin Mueang Tam. These two temples are located around 100 kilometres from Buri Ram Airport and can be reached by taxi or private vehicles.
Prasat Hin Phanom Rung is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is located on the top of an extinct volcano. You can buy the ticket on the spot, which cost just around 200 Baht.
Nearby at Prasat Hin Mueang Tam, we were amazed to see a group of Hindu devotees from Thailand were chanting and dancing as a way to show respect to Lord shiva. Being Hindu myself, I felt I am in some part of India.
Note: As both are religious sites, it is recommended to wear appropriate attire. Avoid shorts or sleeveless clothing to respect the religion and culture.
On the second day, we head out to feel the thrill of sports and action. First we tried our hand at go-karting at Buriram Silachai Go Kart track. The smell of the burning rubber after a go-karting session just pumped my adrenaline level to the max.
Next we visited the ‘Thunder Castle’ (i-Mobile Stadium), which is one of best football stadiums in Thailand and offers a huge seating capacity, even though it was built in record time.
The next BIG THING on the trip itinerary was a visit to Chang International Circuit, which is said to be the venue of the awesome MotoGP race in 2018. :-D
This place has many circuit for drag racing as well place for the drifting, sounds exciting right?
We were thrilled to see the racing of the Pickup trucks as well as Super Turbo race cars, which are some of the many in the Thai sports events taking place in Buri Ram.
The circuit is developed based on the concept of a Football stadium, which allows the audiences to see all part of the track from the stands. I can't wait to go back to this track to see international events like MotoGP in the future.
Play La Ploen:
If you visit Buri Ram and looking for a good place to stay, i would strongly recommend the Play La Ploen. Here, the rooms have a decorated theme based on flowers in the first building, whereas the second building has the rooms decorated based on the popular cities in the world. It may cost you from 3,000-6,000 Baht for a night in spacious room or suite.
Along with the pleasant rooms, there are lot of other activities that can be explored. We tried cooking classes, where we prepared Thai fish cakes and Som Tam papaya salad.
We also tried our hand at classes for Thai desserts. If you like outdoor, there are lot of adventure activities offered by the resort. If you pick the right season, you may get the chance to harvest grapes or strawberries too!
During our trip to the Northeastern Region or Isan inThailand, we also visited a silk village in Surin province where we saw the lifecycle of silkworm and the intensive process behind producing the best quality Thai silk. It may cost 10,000 Baht for one metre of fine silk, which indicates the quality of the silk and passion for keeping this culture alive.
Well this was supposed to be a long section, but I cut to the chase that I had the best of Thai food from Bangkok to Isan. Thai food is enriched with a lot of flavours, including sweetness, tanginess and most important the spiciness.
There were many highlights apart from the above list, which includes traditional Thai massage, hospitality from the smiling faces all over Thailand and many more.... The most important part is to meet so many people and becoming friends for a lifetime.
I wish to visit the Thailand again to cherish these lovely memories.
