Bangkok, 9 February, 2017 – Thailand’s status as a wedding destination is being strengthened by the project “Thailand Wedding Destiny” which the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in invited nine couples from nine countries to get married in specially arranged ceremonies both on the beach and in an ancient Thai capital.
The special events started in Bangkok yesterday for all couples with a romantic Supanniga Cruise from the Peninsula Bangkok down the Chao Phraya River, and each couple will then fly to their dream wedding venues to tie the knot.
The “Thailand Wedding Destiny” project under the campaign “Amazing Romance in Thailand” was launched in November 2016, by TAT in collaboration with Bangkok Airways and leading Thai wedding organisers.
Aimed at showing Thailand’s massive potential as a world-class wedding destination, the campaign invited nine lucky couples from the People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong SAR, Japan, the UK, France, Czech Republic, Australia, the US, and Brazil to get married in four Thai cities – Ko Samui, Phuket, Krabi, and Sukhothai.
The ceremonies will be either traditionally Thai or Western, depending on the venue and the couples’ wishes.
Mr. Tanes Petsuwan, TAT Deputy Governor for the International Marketing – Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Americas said, “Thailand, with its warm seas, picturesque islands and rich colourful culture is the perfect wedding and honeymoon destination.
“The Thailand Wedding Destiny campaign will showcase Thailand’s most gorgeous venues perfect for all sizes and types of weddings and will ensure that nine lucky couples have memories that last a lifetime.”
The campaign will see the nine lucky couples get married in different venues during 10-12 February such as, Celes Beach Front Resort and InterContinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam Resort on Ko Samui; FOTO Hotel, Vijitt Resort, and Twinpalms Resort in Phuket; Sukhothai Heritage Resort and Sukhothai Treasure Resort in Sukhothai, and Pimalai Resort and Spa and Tubkaak Boutique Resort in Krabi.
All of these events have been planned to the last detail by nine best-known Thai wedding planners and will ensure a dream day for all the lucky couples.
Mr. Tanes said, “We hope that these couples will enjoy the amazing atmosphere of lovely Thailand and that the memories they make here will become stories they will share with their families and future children. Thailand is a perfect venue for weddings and the “Thailand Wedding Destiny” will show this to the world.”
Thailand has long been a popular wedding venue for couples from all over the world and from 2-4 May, 2017, the country will host the 4th Annual Destination Wedding Planners Congress 2017 (DWP Congress 2017) in Phuket. TAT expects to attract about 450 wedding planners from across Asia, Africa, the Americas, Australasia and Europe to attend this influential event.
The DWP Congress 2016 named Thailand as the Number One wedding destination in Asia. In the Australian and New Zealand markets, Thailand takes third place and sixth spot in the European listings. As an emerging destination, Thailand comes third and first for the Middle East and Africa, respectively.
Thailand’s wedding industry is estimated to see the average couple spending between 5 and 20 million Baht on their celebration of love in the country.
